E-motion

The E-Motion E-bike concept was developed in a USC Viterbi School of Engineering and Otis College of Art and Design collaboration project. The E-Motion, E-bike conversion kit, allows cyclists to upgrade a standard bicycle into an electric bike. The E-Motion smart pedal measures strain input from the cyclists, and utilizes the data to increase power output from the bikes battery.

Exploded view and ¾ view of the smart pedal. Modeled in Solidworks3D and rendered in Keyshot.

The pedal features a custom axle to fit the strain gauge, as well as a battery compartment for the circuitboard.
